Time to get unreal. This new theme is all about real music from band who aren't. The first band up is one of the most famous bands that don't really exist- The Gorillaz. It's the brainchild of Damon Albarn of Blur and Jamie Hewlett, the creator of Tank Girl. Basically, it's Albarn collaborating with various artists including Del the Funky Homosapien, Dan the Automator, Tina Weymouth and Miho Hitori. They unified all these efforts by making them into one band. Hewlett drew up a group of anthropomorphic monkey rockstars named 2D, Russel, Murdoc and Noodles. There's waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much backstory to these characters and now they've grown to the point where they've appeared on MTV Cribs and are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's most successful virtual band. Tomorrow, we'll look at one of the newest.
