436- [Jan. 5th, 2008|09:09 pm]
So everyone is all big on music games now. Rock Band and Guitar Hero are everywhere. But me, I have always loved music games. The people at Harmonix were making great music games long before the guitar shaped controller. Amplitude and Frequency were great fun games that worked on the same press at a note principle that the new games do. One big difference is that you were building the entire song. You would take a chunk of the vocals and hit that. If you were able to do that chunk correctly, the vox would run for a little while, so that you can do another part of the song (guitar, bass, keys, sfx, drums, dj scratching!). The games were great and unlike GH & RB, they didn't exclude the fans of other styles of music other than rock and rock derivatives. For instance, Frequency included music by No Doubt, Crystal Method, Curve, Fear Factory and Jungle Brothers. What does this have to do with my women in music theme? Harmonix's favorite band which appeared in both Amp and FreQ as well as GH is Freezepop. Yes we are at E in my A to Z. The female lead singer of the band is Liz Enthusiasm. But enough talking....
