I'm a sucker for concept albums. Music and the narrative work well together in my eyes (or ears as the case may be). This is a big reason why I enjoy the Hell Yeahs. As I have stated before in this journal, please don't mistake them for the Pantera progeny. And I certainly don't mean the band from Oregon. I mean the husband and wife duo from Songfight. Since day one, the music of THY has had a gritty element to it. Their first song "The Spirit World" had to do with working late at a liquor shop and it set the tone for the songs that come after (even if they were still musically trying to find their footing). Their footing came with their third song "Hold This For Me", a simple song about getting a guy to hold a purse but when lead singer Heather Redmon says "because a second set of prints never hurts", it was the beginning of a musical crime spree. One day I will write a whole essay on the tale of the main character in most of the THY tunes, a story that includes witness protection, robberies, bisexuality, and prison time. But today, I will settle on telling you all to enjoy this song:
