465- [Feb. 6th, 2008|09:41 pm]
Immediately when it comes to music video directions, a few names spring straight to mind like Samuel Bayer, Floria Sigismundi, Michel Gondry, Kevin Kerslake, Dean Karr, Sophie Muller....but I think I'm going to have to add a new name to that list of directors, Paul Fedor. I hadn't heard of him until tonight but upon doing some research, I've found that not only have I seen his work but I have enjoyed it greatly. Where did I find out about Paul Fedor? There's a song that has been stuck in my head for quite a long time now. And the video for it is a brilliant one. The song is by Flyleaf, which is a Christian band who on occasion sing about their faith. But how do you express that faith without being heavy handed. Fedor did a great job of just that in the video for All Around Me. He put the band in a room, with paint that ran like waterfalls down the walls. Then he placed singer Lacey Mosley in the center of the room. As the paint ran down, the band was doused, except Lacey who seemed to be in a protective circle, which goes perfectly with lyrics about God being all around her.
